Home About Us Special Exhibits Knights Trophy

During July and August the Judge Eghart House will be showcasing Victorian and Civil War Era Hats and Bonnets.  The history and importance of hats and bonnets for both men and women will be exhibited.  During the Victorian times, no lady considered herself fully dressed unless she was wearing a hat, and a gentleman always wore a hat of some kind when he was outside.

In addition to the special hat exhibit, the Eghart House contains an outstanding collection of Victorian furniture and other household goods depicting life in Port Washington in the late 1800’s. With all contents donated by Port Washington and area residents.  The Eghart House is a valuable historical resource that has been visited by thousands since it opened in 1970.

Tours today are still conducted by volunteer guides on Sunday afternoons or group tours can be arranged.   Please go to the About us page for contact and tour information.
